The University of Kent, chartered in 1965, is situated on a 350 acre rural campus site, a mile from and overlooking the attractive medieval cathedral city of Canterbury. The city is an hour and a half to the south-east of London and half an hour from the channel ports and tunnel to continental Europe.
The University offers a wealth of short-term undergraduate study possibilities across the breadth of its 500 undergraduate programmes for one academic year of study (Option 1 September to June) or a more limited selection for one semester (Option 3a September to December) or two semesters (Option 3b January to June).
Kent has a strong teaching and research profile and it is a priority that its teaching at both undergraduate and graduate level should be informed by research and scholarship. Students from more than 120 countries choose Kent.
There are excellent academic and social facilities available on the campus including strong computing support and email/web access; a well stocked library; the Gulbenkian Theatre, a regional film theatre; a range of music opportunities; a variety of catering outlets; shops, banks, cashpoints, laundrettes and bus stops. The Sports Centre offers some of the best student sports facilities in the country and there is an active Student Union offering a range of services from welfare to entertainment. The campus has its own six-doctor Medical Centre, Counselling Service, Disability Support Unit and multi-faith Chaplaincy. The Unit for the Enhancement of Learning and Teaching focuses on promoting quality in teaching and learning and offers a free full support service for students.
