INTRODUCTION

SAL Group of Colleges (SAL) was founded in 1982. Since its inception, SAL has maintained a strong commitment to the ideas of educational freedom excerised in an academic and intellectual environment.

Today. SAL stands tall in Kuala Lumpur, Subang Jaya, Johor Bahru and Melaka. SAL is an acroynm of Setia, Amanah and Luhur. These words refer to Loyalthy, Trustworthieness and nobility. To face the challenge of the new millinieum , SAL College, with its latest motto “ We Believe in People, We Believe in Their Dreams”.

 SAL has expaned its capabilities to offer a broad base of programmes and unique approaches to meet the needs of both industries and individulas. Therefore, currently you can find riding under SAL Group of Colleges wings is, Malaysia Institute of Integrative Media -MIIM (formerly known as Akademi TV3), a centre of excellence of higher learning in integrative media encompassing a spectrum of broadcasting, journalism and multimedia. Established in 1996, MIIM has emerged as the standalone private institution in Malaysia offering broadcasting programs.

In time to come, MIIM will become the leading international education and training centre in the arenas of broadcasting and media. Being linked with Malaysia’s first privatized television station, this mission will most definitely be accelerated. Together, SAL Group of Colleges & MIIM offer you an intellectual environment with a blend of diverse cultures and it’s community

Apart from that SAL Group of Colleges is one of the private Colleges which was granted approval by the Ministry of Education to run the Mariculation Programme for the SPM leavers

The Meaning of SAL 

SAL is an abbreviation of Setia, Amanah and Luhur. These words refer to Loyalty, Trustworthiness and Nobility.

FACILITIES

As an institution that offers IT programs, SAL provides the students with computer laboratories with access to the Internet and networked IT labs which are equipped with LINUX   servers, Windows NT servers and multimedia PCs. Besides that, SAL also developed an interactive website where students can log in and use the facilities provided in the website such as a chat column, interactive forum and news update.

MIIM on the other hand provides a “hands-on” experience to the students by allowing them the access to the facilities included mini broadcasting studio which located in the campus area.

With a collection of 7,345 books in the library, the students are spoiled for choices with the extensive of titles and enriching supplements.

ACHIEVEMENTS / AWARDS

 

1.     One of the first ten private institutions to be given approval by the Education Ministry to conduct 3+0 degree programmes. Amongst the partner Universities are Edith Cowan University, Australia, and Victoria University Technology, Australia.

 

2.     SAL College Kuala Lumpur was awarded a full accreditation for Diploma in Computer Science (UPM), Diploma in Information Technology (UKM) and Certificate in Computer Science by National Accreditation Board (LAN)

 

3.     In September 2002, SAL College, Johor Bahru have signed a Memorandum of Agreement with University of Technology MARA to conduct three programmes with UiTM; Diploma in Computer Science, Diploma in Business Studies and Diploma in Accountancy.

 

4.     SAL College, Internal Programme – Diploma in Information Technology is recognized by Edith Cowan University (ECU), Australia to transfer credit to ECU, Bachelor programme.

 

5.     SAL College Johor Bahru, was appointed as the centre for the Hotel Industry Apprentice Scheme under MLVK and funded by PSMB.

 

6.     SAL College was chosen by Jabatan Perkhidmatan Awam to conduct the English Language Training and Information Communication Technologies (ICT) for Graduates under the SSL scheme. 

 

7.     SAL College was awarded the “Anugerah Kecemerlangan Akademik 2002 – Matriculation Programme“by the Ministry of Education for its cooperation in making it a successful programme.

 

8.     First private educational institution in Malaysia to introduce the Entrepreneurship Education Programme (EEP)

 

9.     First private educational institution to collaborate with local University i.e. University Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) in their Information Technology programme.

         

10.    SAL Group of Colleges is a registered training centre with MLVK.

 

11.   SAL Group of Colleges is a registered training centre with Pembangunan Sumber  Manusia Berhad (PSMB).

 

12.    SAL Group of Colleges is in the process of setting up an institution in China.

 

13.    SAL Group of Colleges has signed an agreement with Beijing Language and Culture University to run an on line programme which will be conducted from Malaysia.

 

14.    In February 1998, SAL Group of Colleges have signed a Memorandum of Agreement with University Putra Malaysia to conduct two programmes under UPM; Diploma in Computer Science and Bachelor in Computer Science.

 

15.    Under the ABE programme, Mr. Tan Chin Thai and Miss Xellia Liew Sze Khim, two

         of SAL students have been awarded the President’s Prize by the Association of    

         Business Executives, UK. The president’s prize is awarded to the student obtaining

         the highest aggregate marks in the Advanced Diploma at one sitting at grades A
